Let Metrolina AIDS Project be your navigator through this often confusing, lonely and scary journey. MAP acts as your guide and advocate throughout the process and provides the many meaningful services below:
Case Management/Service Coordination
Case management is offered to individuals living with HIV/AIDS who require assistance with coordinating their medical care, obtaining HIV medications, and referrals to support services or emergency financial assistance.
Individual Counseling
Individuals living with HIV/AIDS may experience depression, anxiety and/or relationship issues that may result in difficulty leading a fulfilling, productive life. MAP offers confidential, mental health counseling by a licensed psychotherapist who specializes in working with HIV/AIDS clients.
Support Groups
MAP offers safe and confidential meetings to share information, experience, and knowledge and to build mutually supportive emotional and social networks. Groups are led by trained facilitators. Current support groups include:
Gay Men's Support Group
Group meets every second and fourth Thursday of the month.
Women's Support Group
Weekly support group for positive women
Women's Activities Group
Weekly women's group to provide support through activities that promote enhanced self esteem and socialization
Latino Support Group
Monthly support group for Spanish speaking clients living with HIV/AIDS
Community Learning Series
Monthly educational seminar for friends and family of HIV/AIDS clients
The EPY (Empowering Positive Youth) Project:
Young Women's Support Group
Second Monday of each month; support group for older adolescent and young adult women living with HIV/AIDS
Young Male's Support Group
Last Monday of each month; support group for older adolescent and young men living with HIV/AIDS
EPY Activity Group
Both young women and young men together meets third Thursday of each month
Adolescent Support Group
Monthly support group for youth, ages 8 - 16 years old, who are infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS

Primary Care Services
Individuals who do not have private or public insurance benefits may be eligible for primary care and/or dental care through the Metrolina Care Network, a federally funded Ryan White Title III program.
Food Pantry
Eligible MAP clients may receive basic food, nutritional supplements and personal care items.
Dennis P. Thaw Memorial Fund
Eligible MAP clients may receive limited emergency financial assistance to assist with the cost of housing, medication, utilities or transportation.
Adolescent Speakers Bureau
The adolescent speakers bureau is a group of youth who go into the community to churches, youth groups, and schools to teach others about the realities of HIV in the Charlotte community. The presentation consists of HIV 101, local and national statistics, and personal stories about how each adolescent became infected. After that there is an open floor for questions and dialogue with the audience. This presentation has been particularly popular with adolescent audiences.

Specialized assistance for individuals requiring assistance with ADAP services only.
Counseling & Testing
MAP provides counseling and free testing for both HIV and Syphilis.
