Mission: Metrolina AIDS Project (MAP) improves the lives of individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS and strive to prevent further spread of this disease through services, education and client advocacy.
Vision: To be the premier comprehensive local and regional HIV/AIDS service organization; To exceed expectations in providing a continuum of care for all clients.
Location: Offices in Charlotte providing services to Mecklenburg County with sub-contracted services also being provided in Rowan and Gaston counties, and at Duke University.

Programs:
Client Services: Coordinating services from medical and social service agencies is provided by case managers. Specialized assistance for clients with regard to Social Security issue, Medicaid/Medicare and drug assistance programs is delivered by benefit advocates. Other services also include Emergency Financial Assistance (Dennis Fund) and our Food Pantry. 1,066 clients were served – 90% are at or below poverty level – 598 assisted in obtaining medications – 90% maintained medical care for 1 year – 80% reduced emergency room visits – 83% maintained or improved health status.
Mental Heath Services: Confidential mental health counseling and support groups led by trained facilitators, for anyone infected with, or affected by, HIV/AIDS. 81 individuals served in one-on-one counseling – we have support groups for women, adolescents and Hispanics.
Caring For Families: Increases access to clinical research, medical care, education and support services for women, children, youth and families. 1,208 individuals were served – 33 youths enrolled in the CFF Youth Program – 121 attended support and family programs.
Metrolina Care Network: Providing primary medical care, adherence services and dental care throughout a network of regional clinics. 277 individuals enrolled into Primary Medical Care for Titles II III – 256 individuals enrolled into Primary Dental Care for Titles II and III.
HIV Prevention Education Program: Offering innovative prevention programs targeted to at-risk groups throughout the region. Community Health Fairs, HIV/Syphilis Testing and Community Outreach. 6,523 individuals were reached through Prevention Education – 300,000+ individuals were reached through Outreach/Prevention messages – 1,098 individuals were reached in the Hispanic/Latino community – 1,714 were tested for HIV/Syphilis – 18 community sites were hosts to HIV testing locations.
Latino/Hispanic Program Accomplishments: Adopting an interdisciplinary approach among Client Services, Education and Caring for Families Programs in order to serve the rising need of Bilingual Services in the Latino community. 100% increase in Case Management and Caring for Families – Over 700 individuals were reached through Outreach Educational events in high risk apartment complexes.
